Business leader: Set expectations high for students

California Business for Education Excellence President James Lanich has a basic message for educators, policymakers and legislators when it comes to educating California students: Set the expectations high.

Speaking at a Central Valley Town Hall on student achievement in Fresno on Monday, Lanich said that “getting the job done” for schools means accepting the challenge to get all students to grade level proficiency. That will ensure that students are ready for college and/or ready for the workforce, he said.

Lanich sat down with San Joaquin Valleyfornia to discuss a number of issues that are important to California Business for Education Excellence, the education arm of the California Business Roundtable in partnership with the California Chamber of Commerce.
